With over 35 years of experience as an appraiser and nearly 1,000 appraisal assignments completed in the real estate arena, Kevin Smith provides real estate valuations for HMS clients. With a primary focus on providing Fair Market Value opinions to ensure compliance with Stark Laws, Kevin’s expertise includes not only real estate appraisals, but rental rate analyses, feasibility studies, due diligence, consulting and appraisal reviews. Types of properties valued include medical offices, timeshare suites, hospitals, specialty hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, rehabilitation facilities, outpatient clinics, laboratories, diagnostic centers and land. Kevin’s team conducts site visits and physical property inspections for clients, as well as oversees the data collection and analyses for subject properties. Specifically, the process involves obtaining a market area analysis, reviewing data from various public and private sources, performing highest and best use analyses, compiling comparable property data and completing the final assignment report.
Kevin graduated in 1983 from Texas State University with a Bachelor Degree in Business and a concentration in Finance. He started appraising residential properties in 1983 and received his MAI designation in 1994. Kevin has provided appraisal services for national and regional healthcare systems, including Triad Hospitals, Community Health Systems, Health Management Associates, AMSURG Surgery Centers, LifePoint Hospitals, LHP Hospital Group and DSI Renal.

My favorite things to do as a kid were. . .
Anything outdoors—football, basketball, soccer, baseball, mini bikes, go carts, bumper cars, fishing, swimming, exploring, camping, summer camp and blazing trails on my bike.
As a big kid, I like to. . .
Ride my Harley, dine out, concerts, four wheeling, fishing, snow skiing, basketball, football and baseball games, and family time.
